Bonefish Bang Bang Shrimp
Here’s a copycat recipe for Bonefish Grill’s popular Bang Bang Shrimp. This crispy, creamy, spicy shrimp dish is a perfect appetizer or main course!
Ingredients:
For the Shrimp:
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup cornstarch
Oil for frying
For the Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
1–2 tsp Sriracha (adjust to taste for spice level)
1 tsp honey (optional for extra sweetness)
For Serving:
Chopped green onions
Lettuce leaves (optional for a bed of greens)
Instructions:
1. Prep the Shrimp:
Place shrimp in a bowl, cover with buttermilk, and let sit for about 10 minutes.
2. Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and honey until well combined. Set aside.
3. Coat and Fry the Shrimp:
Heat about 1–2 inches of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Remove shrimp from the buttermilk, letting any excess drip off, and dredge each piece in cornstarch until well coated.
Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Place on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
4. Toss and Serve:
In a large bowl, gently toss the fried shrimp with the sauce until evenly coated.
Serve on a bed of lettuce, garnished with green onions.
Tips:
For a healthier version, try air-frying the shrimp at 400°F (200°C) for 6–8 minutes.
You can adjust the sauce ingredients to taste, adding more or less Sriracha depending on your heat preference.
