How to Brown Boiled Chicken Without an Oven

Ingredients:

1 whole chicken (or pieces of your choice)

2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

1 teaspoon paprika (for color)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried herbs (like thyme or rosemary)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Juice of 1 lemon (optional)

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

For Boiling the Chicken:

1 onion, quartered

2-3 bay leaves

4-5 whole black peppercorns

1 cinnamon stick (optional)

2 cloves garlic, crushed

Salt, to taste

Water (enough to cover the chicken)

Instructions:

1. Boil the Chicken:

In a large pot, place the chicken pieces along with onion, bay leaves, peppercorns, cinnamon stick (if using), crushed garlic, and salt.

Add enough water to cover, then bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 30-40 minutes (depending on the size of the chicken pieces) or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the pot and let it drain on a plate.

2. Season the Chicken:

In a small bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried herbs, salt, and pepper.

Pat the boiled chicken dry using a paper towel.

Rub the seasoning mix evenly onto the chicken pieces.

3. Brown the Chicken:

Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil or butter.

Once the oil is hot, place the seasoned chicken pieces skin-side down.

Sear for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

For extra flavor, squeeze lemon juice over the chicken while it browns.

4. Serve:

Transfer the browned chicken to a serving plate.

Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Serve hot with your choice of sides like rice, salad, or roasted vegetables.

Tips:

Make sure the chicken is thoroughly drained and dry before browning to avoid oil splattering.

Adjust seasoning according to your preference. You can add chili powder for a spicier kick.

The broth from boiling the chicken can be saved to make soups or sauces.

Enjoy your deliciously browned chicken—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside—without needing an oven!
