Ingredients:
For the patties:
* 1 pound ground beef
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
* 4 slices American cheese
* 2 brioche buns, toasted
For the secret sauce:
* 1/4 cup mayonnaise
* 1/4 cup ketchup
* 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
* Make the patties: In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into 4 equal patties.
* Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
* Cook the patties: Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and smash them with a spatula to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until evenly browned and thoroughly cooked.
* Assemble the burgers: Place a slice of cheese on each patty and let it melt for a few seconds. Place the patties on the toasted buns and top with a generous amount of secret sauce.
* Serve immediately.
