Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

 1/2 cup sugar

 1 teaspoon salt

1 packet 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast.

 1 cup milk (warm)

 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

 2 large eggs

 Filling:

 1 cup mixed dried fruits (currants, raisins, candied peel)

 1/2 cup almonds (chopped)

 Optional: 1/4 cup rum or brandy (for soaking dried fruit)

 Topping:

 Powdered sugar

1 Fruit preparation:

 Soak dried fruits in rum overnight or heat briefly in the microwave with rum to fill them

Make the dough:

 In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Leave for 5 minutes until foamy.

 Combine flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add melted butter, eggs and    yeast mixture. Mix until dough forms

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. Use an instant-read thermometer to check an internal temperature of about 190°F (88°C)

7 Exit:
